WOMEN'S SELF DEFENSIVE LECTURE

Service Description

The GGF Women’s Personal Self-Defense Lecture is a 90-minute practical, safety-centered program designed to help adult women develop awareness, confidence, and a layered personal-safety plan. The course emphasizes prevention first: recognizing concerning behavior, setting and communicating boundaries, avoiding unnecessary risk, using verbal de-escalation, and making prompt decisions to leave, seek help, or contact emergency services. Classroom discussion addresses situational awareness in public places, at home, in vehicles, at work, and while traveling; personal-space management; emergency communication; planning with family or trusted contacts; and the appropriate use of alarms, lighting, phones, and other lawful safety tools. Participants also examine how stress can affect perception and decision-making, how to communicate clearly with responding officers, and what practical steps may follow a self-defense incident. The lecture presents physical self-protection as one part of a broader strategy. Instructor-led demonstrations may introduce accessible defensive movement, creating distance, protecting vulnerable areas, disengaging from common grabs, and moving toward safety. Practice activities are cooperative, optional, and adapted for comfort, mobility, and experience; the program does not promise that any single technique will work in every situation. No prior self-defense or firearms experience is needed. At the end of the lecture, participants should be better prepared to identify risks, choose proportionate and lawful responses, build a realistic personal-safety plan, evaluate defensive-tool options, and pursue additional skills training responsibly.
